20 is plenty

Councillor David Wiltshire recently launched a petition to ask Hampshire County Council to introduce 20mph limits where it matters most - near our schools.

David put a motion to the May meeting of Fareham Council, asking the Council Leader to write to Hampshire County Council – as the highways authority – to:

1. Ask for the introduction of 20mph zones outside all schools in Fareham Borough, subject to local feasibility and community consultation; and

2. Urge Hampshire County Council to prioritise the implementation of these reduced speed zones as a matter of public safety, supporting the principle that “Twenty is Plenty” when it comes to protecting children outside schools.
