Funds and training to boost Speedwatch
Thanks to funding secured by Cllr Chrissie Bainbridge, a new Community Speedwatch is now up and running across Portchester and Fareham Town.
- Speed gun purchased
- Local volunteers recruited and trained
- Working with police to target known hotspots
We’ll be meeting with Hampshire Police later this month to agree the first monitoring sites.
Cllr Chrissie Bainbridge said: “Residents have been very clear with me on the doorstep – speeding and anti-social driving are a real concern. People are fed up with the noise, especially as we head into the warmer months when windows are open.”
“There is also a serious safety issue here. This is about protecting our communities and making our streets safer for everyone.”
This is part of our ongoing track record of action locally:
- Regular engagement with police on speeding hotspots
- Campaigning for 20mph limits outside schools to protect children and families
- Supporting residents to take action through Community Speedwatch
